Facilities and Equipment
TOC-LCSH Total Organic Carbon Analyzer with TNM-L TOC-LCSH (Shimadzu) with Non-Dispersive Infrared (NDIR) detector for analysis of total organic carbon and nitrogen in wastewaters, drinking water, ground water, surface water, and saline water. The combustion type TOC eliminates salt interferences and ensures complete oxidation even with high molecular weight compounds, suspended particles, and refractory compounds. The TNM-L, Total Nitrogen Module, permits simultaneous carbon and nitrogen analysis and utilizes a chemiluminescence detector.

Aqualog Fluorescence SpectrophotometerAqualog (JY Horiba) performs simultaneous UV-vis absorbance and fluorescence spectral acquisition. Measures fluorescence emission (2D) and 3D Excitation-Emission Matrices (EEMs) with real-time display of corrected EEMs. Software corrects for inner-filter effects and Rayleigh and Raman scattering lines. Uses CCD fluorescence emission detector for rapid data acquisition.

FlowCAM (Fluid Imaging Technologies)
The FlowCAM is a flow cytometer with microscope, video recording, and particle recognition technology capable of imaging particles in an aqueous medium. We are collaborating with scientists at the University of Colorado, Boulder to enumerate and identify algae, pollen, fungi, and bioaerosols with this instrument.
